The death of University of Idaho student Alex Taber was announced by Dean of Students Blaine Eckles on March 4 through an email announcement.
Taber was a junior majoring in agricultural systems management in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, according to the announcement. Taber was from Shoshone, Idaho and had the goal of working as a crop consultant before returning to his family’s farming and dairy operations.
He died at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Eckels announcement encourages students impacted and looking for assistance during this time to contact the Counseling and Mental Health Center at 208-885-6716.
Additionally, those worried about a student or employee and are unsure what to do, are encouraged to file a Vandal CARE report at vandalcare.uidaho.edu.
“As a community, we collectively mourn Alex’s death and share our condolences with his family and friends who are most impacted by his passing,” Eckles’ announcement said.
