Campus Currents: 2/24-3/2

What’s happening at UI this week?

Campus Currents | Riley Helal

Happy Monday, Vandals! March is approaching and hopefully bringing spring with it. The trees and flowers are starting to bud and the sun has made some appearances recently, so it’s time to get out of our winter funk and embrace the liveliness of spring! Here are some fun events to check out this week.

Vandalizing the Kitchen (Tuesday, Feb. 25)

Head over to the Student Recreation Center classroom 103 from 6-7 p.m. to watch a cooking demonstration with some food pantry favorites. This demonstration will feature some easy and low-cost meals that you can prepare. There will be samples for everyone to try and great giveaways!

Make it at the MILL- Glitter Tumblers (Wednesday, Feb. 26)

Join the staff at the MILL in the library from 12:30-4 p.m. to learn how to make some cute glitter tumblers that may become your new emotional support water bottle! You’ll learn all the techniques to create your own tumbler including how to achieve the beautiful swirling glitter effect and seal it properly. All of the materials are provided and it’s completely free and open to all students.

African American Read-In (Thursday, Feb. 27)

Celebrate Black creativity and resilience at the library from 12-2 p.m. at the African American Read-In! Read a short excerpt from your favorite African American author’s work or listen to others read from theirs. Enjoy some free refreshments while you listen.

Palouse Climbing Festival (Saturday, March 1)

Compete with the region’s best climbers in the Palouse Climbing Festival at the Student Recreation Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Connect with fellow climbers and engage in some friendly competition! Pay the $40 entry fee online here. Contact Hans Zander at (208)-855-6810 if you have any questions.
