Vandal Entertainment hosted a lively event, “Bouquet for your Boo,” on Thursday, Feb. 13. A long line of students stretched through the International Ballroom doors, all waiting for their chance to assemble a bouquet for Valentine’s Day. Once inside, they had the opportunity to pick from a wide range of flowers and greenery, free of charge.
“Bouquet for your Boo” is a reoccurring event with over 150 students attending each year, making it very popular. Vandal Entertainment continues to bring it back because of the large turnout and immense amount of positive feedback, according to Emma Johnston, the lead event planner. She has been with the student-led entertainment board since fall 2024.
One particularly special joy that she gets from organizing these events is the opportunity to interact with so many unique people. “It’s always really great to meet students, and I think a really cool part of my role as an event planner for Vandal Entertainment is that I get to see so many different students and so many different types of student groups that I normally wouldn’t get to interact with during the day, or even in my classes,” she said.
Last year, so many students showed up for the event that they ran out of supplies. Despite the snowy weather outside, this year’s “Bouquet for your Boo” proved to be a popular evening activity yet again. Arrangements consisted of three pieces of greenery and six flower stems, all up to the students’ personal preference. They could also choose to have their bouquet wrapped in newspaper or tied with ribbon.
“The purpose of ‘Bouquet for your Boo’ for the Vandal community is to bring students, other community members and pretty much everyone from the Moscow area together to enjoy this holiday, and to just be able to have some time to destress from class and work,” Johnston said. “To get together and have a little bit of creativity with making a flower arrangement and enjoy a few hours, especially in the colder months, to bring a little bit of brightness and joy to peoples’ lives.”
Coming up, Vandal Entertainment will be hosting Skate Night, where they will take students from the University of Idaho campus to the Moscow Ice Rink. If you’re up for a fun night of skating, the event starts at 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 28. For more details, visit their page on the UI website or follow them on Instagram (@uidaho.ve).
