Residents of the Moscow area have organized a People’s March and Rally at 2 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Those attending the rally will meet at Moscow City Hall at 2 p.m. and make their way to East City Park at 2:30 p.m. For people without signs, sign making will be held outside of Café Artista 30 minutes before the march at 1:30 p.m.

The event will serve as a demonstration of support for various political issues including reproductive rights, environmental activism and universal healthcare. It additionally serves as a protest against President Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration, which takes place two days after the march.

An offshoot of a national movement, the 2025 People’s March and Rally is taking place in a multitude of cities across the country this Saturday, most notably in Washington D.C. It is a revival of the Women’s March that occurred in 2017 in response to Trump’s first term as president, with the name being inspired by the vulgar comments Trump has made about women and women’s bodies in the past.

This year, it’s been rebranded as the People’s March to inspire inclusivity and encourage more attendees to come together and make their voices heard.

Locally, the occasion is in part being organized by Bans Off Moscow, a grassroots committee dedicated to fighting for reproductive rights and against Idaho’s strict abortion laws. Organizers from the committee say they originally planned to gather in Friendship Square but have since moved the event to accommodate the large numbers they are expecting.

This is a ridiculous March. Things are so great with Biden? I do not know about you but I would rather a March that stood for bringing attention to how many small businesses have had to close in the last 4 years. Or let us bring attention to the simple fact that groceries have gone up by 25% in the last 4 years. I am not a Trunp supporter but I as well believe that Biden screwed this country. I support reproductive rights and agree with that part of the march. The rest of it? Well all you got is a bunch of Trump haters together and it really makes very little difference, so it is doubtful I will waste anymore energy supporting this ridiculous ignorant march.
