The Idaho Vandals traveled to California to take on Cal Poly. The Vandals are 4-2 on the season and continue to play well under freshman head coach Arthur Moreira.
The Vandals outscored the Mustangs in every quarter except the fourth, being outscored by only 1 point. In the first and third quarters the Vandals were able to outscore the Mustangs by 10 points and 9 points respectively, with Cal Poly unable to put together any meaningful runs.
Hope Hassmann and Jennifer Aadland filled out the stat sheet nicely with 15 and 14 points respectively. Hassmann shot 63% from the field and Aadland shot 85% with only one miss.
The Vandals shot 53% from the 3-pt line and 52% overall from the field. The Vandals also pounded the boards, outrebounding the Mustangs on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. The Vandals finished with 40 total rebounds to Cal Poly’s mere 28.
Hope Hassmann led the team in points and assists with 15 and 4, Rosie Schweizer led the team with 9 rebounds and Anja Bukvic had 2 steals. The Vandals will take on Montana Tech on Wednesday the 23rd at 2.pm. in Moscow. The game can be watched on ESPN+ or tickets can be purchased here.
