“Heretic” first hit the theaters on Nov. 8, 2024 and has generated $25 million worldwide since then. It has received mostly positive reviews from viewers and critics alike. It was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who also wrote the very successful movie, “A Quiet Place.”
“Heretic” is categorized as a horror/psychological thriller movie, and it follows two Mormon missionaries who encounter a peculiar man claiming he wishes to hear more about the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints and the teachings from the Book of Mormon.
Upon speaking to him for a while, the Mormon missionaries, Sister Barnes and Paxton, find themselves caught in a predicament that turns into a malicious game of cat and mouse led by the diabolical antagonist, Mr. Reed.
Barnes and Paxton face malevolent twists, turns and tricks and must turn to their faith to make it out alive as Mr. Reed taunts them. He questions and tests their faith as he tries to trick them into becoming disbelievers.
Throughout the movie, Mr. Reed’s actions become more and more sinister, and the outcome of survival for Barnes and Paxton starts to look slimmer.
Will these girls pass the trials of their faith and make it out alive, or will they succumb to the taunts of Mr. Reed and fall prey to a dreadful fate?
