A sense of community in the air, laughter and Halloween tunes filled the spooky atmosphere of the Kibbie Dome’s south concourse for the athletic department’s Trick or Treat event. Each Vandal Athletic Team represented their sport at a table covered in a plethora of different candies for excited trick-or-treaters and their families. Children from the Moscow community were gifted not only sweets but a memory packed with activities and magically festive moments.

The hall that is usually seen bustling on game days, with lines flowing from concessions, was transformed. The walls and floors were decorated in cobwebs, lights and more to fully immerse one in the energy of the holiday Each table was dressed up in the perfect balance of frightening and adorable.

Different teams personalized their area unique to their sport, while others embraced the theme of Halloween.

Men’s golf set up mini golf, while women’s golf had a “pin the skull on the skeleton” game. Mini hurdles lined the table of track and field, making for quite the challenge. The basketball teams had a mini basketball hoop set up, encouraging both competition and entertainment.

The athletes, dressed in costumes of their own, engaged with the simple goal of having fun. It was clear much effort was placed into the night.

While kids had the opportunity to score some early treats, parents socialized and witnessed the charming scene. Vandals were given the opportunity to bond not only within their teams but with other athletes. A player on the women’s volleyball team remarked that this event creates, “participation from the kids and families of Moscow,” and allows comradery from, “the athletics department as a whole.”

The scene encapsulated what it means to be a member of this community, as the Halloween spirit at this event brought together many different types of Moscow residents.
