This hot chocolate recipe is easier to make than you think

A warm cup of homemade hot chocolate | Megan Kingsley | Argonaut

With the chill of winter not far off, it’s time to start making your own hot chocolate. It’s easy, rich and uses real chocolate, so you can enjoy drinking this high-quality beverage from the comfort of home. This recipe is for one serving, but it’s easy to convert to larger quantities.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk (dairy-free works too)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • A splash of vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Heat milk, cocoa powder and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and stir.
  1. Once combined, add chocolate chips. Stir until melted and evenly distributed.
  1. Add vanilla extract, remove from heat and enjoy!

Author’s Note: For extra richness, substitute half of the milk for an equal amount of heavy cream. It’s heavenly. I also like to add a bit of caramel syrup and whipped cream.
