UI places first in barrel racing at UI College Rodeo last weekend

UI places fifth in men and women's overall rankings at the rodeo

Last weekend, from Oct. 12-13, the University of Idaho Rodeo Club hosted a rodeo for the first time in 11 years. The rodeo took place in Colfax, Washington and hosted Northwest Region colleges affiliated with the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. 

The results of the rodeo are as follows:  

Overall Men’s Team: 

1. Walla Walla Community College with 689.50 points 

2. Treasure Valley Community College with 523.00 points 

3. Lassen College with 296.00 points 

4. Blue Mountain Community College with 223.50 points 

5. University of Idaho with 69.00 points 

6. Thompson Rivers University with 32.00 points 

Overall Women’s Team: 

1. Lassen College with 381.50 points 

2. Treasure Valley Community College with 356.50 points 

3. Walla Walla Community College with 324.50 points 

4. Blue Mountain Community College with 267.50 points 

5. University of Idaho with 195.00 points 

Events that took place at the rodeo included bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying.  

Notable rankings of UI’s Rodeo Club team include Katelyn Hurl and Kayla Hurl who placed 1st and 6th, respectively, in barrel racing. 

UI’s Emily Skramstad and Brody Wallace placed 5th in the team roping header and team roping heeler categories respectively, earning 28.5 points each.
