The Vandals began their 2024 season on September 17 in Colorado at the Ram Masters Invitational.
Finishing the tournament at 3-over, the team tied with Big Sky opponent, Sacramento State.
Idaho had an excellent second round, finishing 9-under as a team. They entered day two of the tournament tied for fourth place but dropped to seventh after going 6-over in the final round.
The host team, Colorado State, handled the competition with ease, finishing with a tournament record 22-under. They also set the single round record for this tournament at 13-under in round three.
Though no Vandals finished at even par, senior Dalton Dean and junior Joe Sykes both finished at 1-over. Freshman Charley Simpson and senior Matthew McGann both finished at 2-over.
Though there’s still room for improvement from Idaho, it’s always a good sign to start the year with a strong showing as they did in Fort Collins. They will compete next on October 7 in the OSU invite in Corvallis, Oregon.
