The UI African Students Association is hosting its annual Africa Night on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the International Ballroom at the Bruce M. Pitman Center. Themed “Amakhosi,” which means “royalty,” the event is meant to showcase the diverse cultures, traditions and food of Africa to all the Moscow community.
African Night is an opportunity for attendees to experience African culture through live performances, unique dishes, and cultural couture. The ASA encourages everyone to join for a vibrant evening that will highlight the richness of African heritage in a way that resonates with both African students and the wider community.
“Amakhosi” represents a celebration of royalty and heritage, a fitting theme for this year’s event, which promises to immerse guests in a unique culture. Guests will have the chance to experience traditional African cuisine, enjoy music and dance, and learn more about the customs that shape the diverse cultures across the African continent.
The ASA works to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Africa, with events like African Night serving as a bridge between cultures. The annual event is not just a gathering for the African community, but an invitation for all students, faculty and Moscow residents to join in and celebrate the richness of Africa’s traditions.
This celebration of African culture offers an unforgettable evening filled with a deep appreciation for the continent’s traditions. Tickets for African Night are available online, and attendees are encouraged to purchase them in advance. Tickets are available for purchase here.
