The Women’s Golf team had a strong season-opening performance, finishing in fifth place out of 11 teams at the Kelsey Chugg Invitational in Eden, Utah on September 17. The team finished with a total score of 43-over, faring well against fellow Big Sky opponents.
Sophomore Emma Kang had the best individual score of any Vandal, finishing at 9-over and tying with three others in 13th place.
Senior Jenna Bruggeman and sophomore Emma Heyman also performed well, wrapping up with a 10-over and a 13-over, respectively. Bruggeman finished tied for 17th. Heyman was tied for 29th due to a 2-over finish in the second round.
Junior Zoe Newell had a 17-over performance, closely trailed by junior Kaylin Johnson at 18-over. They both finished in the top 50 of 70 participants.
The California Baptist Lancers took first place with a total score of 19-over, closely followed by the host team, the Weber State Bobcats, at 22-over.
The Vandals next appearance on the course will take place in Worley, Idaho at the Eagle Invitational on September 22 and 23.
