Bryan Kohberger has been booked into the Ada County Jail after his trial was moved to Ada County last week. Idaho’s Supreme Court announced the change in venue last Monday and Kohberger was moved 300 miles south.
Kohberger is accused of killing four University of Idaho students in November 2022. His defense attorneys argued that the extensive media coverage and potential bias in Latah County would create an unfair trial.
After months of deliberations and testimony, the former judge of the case, John Judge granted the defense’s motion earlier this month. The new judge presiding over the case is Ada County Judge Steven Hippler.
The prosecution argued the families of Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen will now have to travel to Boise for the trial causing more inconveniences.
The police forces around Moscow used cellphone data, surveillance videos and DNA evidence to arrest Kohberger in December 2022.
The trial is set for June 2025, where the prosecution is seeking the death penalty.
