The Vandal men’s golf team finished 11th at the Palouse Collegiate tournament this week at Washington State University’s golf course on September 10-11th.
Joe Sykes led the charge for the Vandals by improving on every round, bringing his strokes down from 72 to 68 for a total of 209 strokes, putting him right into the top 25.
Samuel Johnson was right behind his teammate Sykes on the leaderboard with 210 strokes, putting him in 32nd place.
Matthew McGann fought hard in this course and ended in 48th place with a stroke count of 214.
Charley Simpson improved his stroke count. He started with 72 strokes in the first round and ended with 215 strokes, putting him in 54th place.
Dalton Dean was close to his teammate Simpson, earning himself a stroke count of 216 and getting 59th place.
Josh McCartian held strong on his strokes, keeping a solid 73 strokes for all three rounds, earning him 75th place with a stroke count of 219.
Together, the Vandals had 846 strokes for all three rounds combined, and their lowest strokes were in the first round with 275.
The Vandals will compete in the Ram Masters tournament September 17-18 at the Fort Collins Country Club in Fort Collins, Colorado. We wish our Vandals luck as they fight for the top of the leaderboard this upcoming season.
