On Friday night, as students left for Labor Day weekend or slept peacefully in their beds, they may not have noticed the brilliant light show swirling just above them. The northern lights reached Moscow in one of their brightest displays since they were seen across the nation at the end of the last semester.

Barely visible to the naked eye, they could easily have been mistaken for haze. But looking through the lens of a camera, the true color revealed itself against some of the darker parts of campus.
