UPDATE: Escaped inmate apprehended in Pullman

A low-risk inmate that escaped a community service worksite located at Theophilus Tower earlier this morning has been caught

Wayland Savage, the inmate who walked off the University of Idaho Moscow campus worksite, was arrested in Pullman, Washington, around 8 p.m. on Aug. 13, according to a Vandal Alert and the Moscow Police Department Facebook.

Savage was working in Theophilus Tower as an Idaho Department of Correction work crew member. Low-risk inmates were assigned to the work crew and were preparing the UI dorms for students to move in. Savage was originally incarcerated for burglary and grand theft and was considered nonviolent.

Moscow Police Department received assistance from the Latah County Sheriff’s Office, Pullman Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Whitman County Regional SWAT team, and K-9 units during their search for Savage in the UI dorms from around 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

No further details have been provided after the arrest of Savage tonight.
