Dorm essentials that every student needs

Absolute must-haves for your dorm

Freshman dorms the Theophilus Tower | Haadiya Tariq | Argonaut

Summer break is nearly over, and school is almost back in session. Whether you’re an incoming freshman or a returning student, if you’re living in the dorms, these are some items you will definitely want. Your dorm experience won’t be complete without them!

1.) Brita Water Filter

Even if you’re living off campus, you’ll want a Brita filter for your place. It’s much cheaper than buying water bottles, and it’ll make your tap water taste so nice and fresh! If a Brita isn’t on your shopping list yet, you definitely need to add it.

2.) Foam Mattress Topper

The dorm life is great for community and meeting new people, but the mattresses aren’t very plush. Getting a foam topper will transform your dorm mattress into a much comfier and cozy one! Even a small 1–2-inch topper will work wonders for comfortability.

3.) Extension Cord/Box

The number of power outlets in a dorm room is far too small for everything you’ll need to charge. Getting yourself an extension cord/box will be a lifesaver for you and your roommate. Besides, you can never have too many outlets!

4.) Shower Caddy/Bag

Dorms always have shared bathrooms and showers with little to no storage space for shampoo/conditioner and body wash bottles. Getting yourself a little caddy or bag to hold all your bathroom and shower stuff will make things much easier for you!

5.) Command Strips/Hooks

You definitely don’t want to leave screw or tack holes in the walls of your dorm room, so Command strips are going to become your best friend when hanging up all of your cute decor. They’re an absolute must-have for damage-free decorating, and their durability and strength are unmatched.
