“The Fall Guy” is an action/comedy based on the TV show “The Fall Guy” which was released in 1981. While the movie does not follow the same plot as the show, there are many references for original fans. The movie was released in 2024 and is just over 2 hours. Whether it’s from the quick-witted comedy from Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt or the sudden action sequences with suspenseful music in the background, for those 2 hours, viewers are on the edge of their seats.

“The Fall Guy” certainly has no shortage of stars in the movie. Gosling who plays the stuntman in the movie, is riding off his fame from Barbie as is Blunt, who is the love interest, from Oppenheimer last summer. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the famous actor who Gosling does stunts for, and Hannah Waddingham plays his assistant.

The movie opens with Gosling’s character, Colt Seavers, describing his life on set. He seems to enjoy his job and even has a budding romance with Jody Moreno who is a camerawoman played by Blunt. When an accident happens on set, and Colt breaks his back, he gives up playing stuntman and essentially ghosts Jody.

A year later, Colt is called by Waddingham’s character Gail Meyer to come back and stunt for Taylor-Johnson’s character Tom Ryder. Colt agrees when he hears that Jody is the director of the film and he hopes to rekindle what they once had. When Colt arrives, Gail informs him that Tom is missing and he has been consorting with criminals.

Colt races to find him while shooting the movie and trying to win back Jody. Throughout the movie, Colt is chased by the villains and tries to uncover who is behind Tom’s disappearance.

The movie had a great soundtrack that paired well with the fast-paced motion of the film. There is a well-developed plot twist in the movie that does become more obvious as it goes on, but it is still a nice twist. The director, David Leitch was a former stuntman himself and wanted to pay homage to the unseen heroes of movies.

If you like action/comedies with large stunts, great acting, and a well-put-together piece of cinema, and if you were a fan of the original “The Fall Guy”- then this movie is for you.
