Swimming, nature, shopping and more can be found this summer in Moscow

With the warmer weather and school leaving for break, it’s clear that summer is on its way. There are many places in Moscow and the surrounding area to visit to either cool off or have a fun time.  

Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.  

Located on campus and around Moscow, the Arboretum is the perfect place to visit this summer. Whether you want to lounge in nature or explore the 63 acres of plants, flowers, and ponds, this spot is surely a peaceful one for the summer.  

Moscow Farmers Market.  

The farmers market starts at 8 a.m. every Saturday and goes on until 1 p.m. The market is in downtown Moscow. This farmers market is a great way to look at local and community-made goods and is an opportunity to explore downtown Moscow as well.  

Hamilton-Lowe Aquatics Center.  

The Hamilton-Lowe Aquatics Center will open for summer on June 7. Prices for passes to swim are listed on their website. This center offers many different amenities and is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days.  

Palouse Ice Rink.  

The Palouse Ice Rink is great for wanting to escape the heat. The ice rink is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on typical business days. They offer many different activities for all ages, from skating to playing hockey.  

Flying Squirrel Trampoline Park.  

This indoor entertainment center is fun for everyone. There are trampolines, an arcade, obstacle courses, dodgeball court, and more. Tickets and schedules can be found on their website, but this place is a way to cool off and have fun.  

Panhandle Cone and Coffee.  

Located on main street, this ice cream and coffee shop is a great way to get a sweet treat for summer. They have an array of flavors for ice cream and many different coffee options. Their hours are on their website.  

Downtown Moscow.  

Moscow is a vibrant town with many different retail stores, food and drink options, and more. With downtown being only a short walk from campus, it is a convenient place to check out this summer.  

Rendezvous in the Park. 

This music and arts festival takes place July 19-20 and is a summer staple for any Moscow resident. The lineup for the festival is already posted and tickets are $70 for a pass to both days or $40 per day and tickets can be purchased on the website.  

The Kenworthy Performing Arts Center.  

This movie theater is showcasing movies all summer. The theater can also be rented out for private events. This is a good place to unwind or go for a late-night showing. All movies and tickets are listed on their website.  

Hells Gate State Park.  

While this isn’t in Moscow, it is worth the drive if you want to swim and love nature. This park has recreational swimming, boating, hiking, and camping. There is also a lot of history associated with the park and is located just outside of Lewiston.
