De-Stress Fest has arrived in time for Finals Week

From April 29 to May 4, students can take some time aside for themselves and relax for finals week next week. There will be free events taking place all over campus, so stop by and have a little fun! 

Tuesday, Apr. 30 

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thank an Advisor 

This will be on the ISUB Lobby’s second floor just outside of Einstein Bros. Students and faculty can show their appreciation for a U of I faculty member who has made a positive impact in their life. There will be card writing stations available in multiple locations around campus and in the ISUB. 

3-5 p.m. De-Stress Field 

ASUI and Recreation and Wellbeing will be hosting lawn games at the Student Rec Center (SRC) for students to take a small break from studying for finals. 

5-6 p.m. Vandalizing the Kitchen: Mediterranean Medley 

Students can take a break in time for some fun learning to make some Mediterranean dishes in SRC classroom 103. 

Wednesday, May 1 

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Health Hut 

Stop by the ISUB outside of the Cedar Grove room and learn more about health and wellbeing on multiple topics. Students can learn more about on-campus resources and ask questions. There will be giveaways to grab too! 

12-12:20 p.m.  Mindfulness Noon Drop-In 

Join in on the weekly Zoom meeting at https://uidaho.zoom.us/j/344259873 to practice mindfulness with Jaime Derrick in Psychology faculty. This is a simple restorative guided mediation with no previous experience needed and open to all that are interested. 

12-12:30 p.m. Laughter Yoga in SRC 103 

Do you like laughing? Do you like yoga? Well, this yoga session will include both. Anyone wanting to participate will be led through a series of guided laughter and breathing exercises in SCR classroom 103. 

12:30-4 p.m. Make It @ the MILL: Grad Cap Decorating 

Soon-to-be graduates can join in this fun workshop in the library at the MILL. Personalize and decorate your graduation cap with provided craft materials, including paint, markers, or other embellishments like glitter!  

5-6 p.m. Wellbeing Ambassador Year End Celebration 

Drop by the SRC to see learn more and see what the Wellbeing Ambassadors do. There will be games, people can strategize how to build resilience on campus, and people can also share their strengths. You don’t need to be a Wellness Ambassador to attend, but you can register at their website below: http://www.uidaho.edu/wellbeingambassadors 

Thursday, May 2 

9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Pavilion in Space: Interplanetary Game Experience 

Located in the Pitman Center Vandal Ballroom, you are invited to have some fun exploring environments and playing games created by a sophomore project in the Virtual Technology and Design program. You can vote for your favorite experience, and everyone is invited to participate. There will be refreshments available as well. 

12:30-1:30 p.m. Lavendar Lunch 

Stop by the Women’s Center in Room 109 in the Memorial Gym for free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and slides. Everyone is welcome for free lunch and community building! 

3:30 p.m. Mindfulness Meditation 

Head to Borah Theater in the Pitman Center to enjoy a mindfulness meditation session with Sailesh. This workshop will focus on mental health, mindfulness, and overall wellbeing. Anyone is free to join in! 

Friday, May 3 

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Therapy Dogs 

Relax, rest and recharge with Therapy Dogs from Palouse Paws in the Library! Stop by as you can in between studying and classes. 

7 p.m. Community Hypnotist Show 

Take a break from your studying and head to the Kenworth Performing Arts Centre to watch an intriguing hypnotist show. 

7 p.m. Flying Into Finals Trampoline Trip at Flying Squirrel 

Want to add some fun to your week? Join in for the trampoline trip at Flying Squirrel. Registration is required. 

7:30 p.m. “Orlando” 

Come to the Forge Theatre to watch a creative journey through centuries and genders. Admission is free to U of I students. General admission is $5-$25. 

Saturday, May 4 

9-11 a.m. BEE a Volunteer 

Meet at the GIBB Hall Courtyard. 

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Get Dirty May 2024 

Volunteer with the Student Sustainability Cooperative and the Paradise Auburn Society to replace over 4,000 square feet of lawn with a mix of trees native to the area, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers. You can meet up at the University Steam Plant Parking lot to get started! 

2-4 p.m. Board Games @ Thomas Hammer Coffee 

Hosted by the Tabletop Gaming Club, you can play board games and hang out at Thomas Hammer Coffee. There will be multiple groups of tabletop games available. You can also get a $3 drip coffee and mini-scones and enjoy a 10% discount on the menu!
