The Governor of Connecticut proclaimed March 28, 2024, University of Idaho Day.

Last week, the Yale marching band could not make it across the country to Spokane support its men’s basketball team at March Madness. The UI band showed its Vandal sportsmanship and played in Yale’s place. The band wore Yale T-shirts, played the Yale fight song and even adopted the name “VanDogs” (a combination of the two mascots, the Vandals and the Bulldogs).

The UI band supported Yale in its upset of No. 4 Auburn in its subsequent loss to San Diego State in the Round of 32.

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont praised the UI band, saying they “donned the blue and white.” In appreciation for the band’s support at March Madness, Gov. Lamont declared today University of Idaho Day.
