More than 20 buildings have flooded on the UI campus today due to cold temperatures freezing pipes. The degree of damage varies by location according to an email from the Director of Facilities.
The confirmed buildings to have flooded include Engineering and Physics, College of Natural Resources, Meats Lab, Art and Architecture East, UI Dairy, Renfrew Hall, Ridenbaugh Hall, Ag Sci, Food Research Center, Brink Hall, Student Health, The Bruce M. Pitman Center, TLC/ISUB, LLC 1, LLC 2, LLC 3, LLC 5, Wallace Residence Hall, The P1FCU Kibbie Dome, and the ICCU Arena.
There is also flooding damage reported in some of the Greek houses.
Crews have responded and are working around the clock to make repairs and dry flooded locations.
If students see flood-drying equipment, they are asked not to turn off the equipment, as it will delay drying and cause further damage.
Several offices and dozens of students have also been relocated to dry areas.
As the weather is expected to warm up, more flooding can occur. If any students observe any more flooding, they are encouraged to report it to [email protected].
According to the email, the University is addressing this problem as fast as possible.
