ASUI is moving forward with their plans for an ASUI monument in the Kibbie Dome.
“To be frank, this isn’t something I want to rush. This is something that I want to spend time on and ensure that we constructed the monument which will last as long as the University of Idaho is around.” President Tanner McClain said this Wednesday
ASUI has been collaborating with the architecture school to create designs for the monument.
President McClain also discussed the University of Phoenix acquisition in his address, stating: “This will allow more options for students, particularly from rural areas and all across the state of Idaho to gain and access online education.” McClain also says that the University will see around 25 million more a year from this acquisition and is hopeful that this will help, “improve the student’s experience on campus.”
President McClain is also taking part in a U.S 95- Audit Interview to help improve the city of Moscow. “This is a long-term project,” he said. “Changes won’t be admitted until 2050. Still, this is something that the students in 2050 deserve to have a nice public transit system.” McClain also hopes that crosswalks and structures will be approved around Moscow for the safety of students.
Winter Social is making a reappearance and ASUI has already booked the entire ISUB for the event. More details are to come, but the event is scheduled for February 21st.
“This is my favorite event,” President McClain said. “This is something that I really enjoyed starting here in ASUI.”
Five bills were passed unanimously. S23- B04, which is for the purchase of 30 tickets to the African Night, by the African Student Association for ASUI members and other students. ASUI hopes for students to attend and to promote cultural events around campus.
