President McClain interviewed candidates for the four open Senate seats on Wednesday.

These four were newly elected at the meeting, with McClain stating, “I am very confident in all the candidates who spoke tonight.”

President McClain also revealed that MyUIdaho will be beta testing next month.

“It has been in the works for several years now,” McClain said. “And it’s aiming to encompass all online platforms and be a ‘one-stop shop’ for everything.”

MyUIdaho hopes to include Vandal Star and Web, along with grades, student profiles, and all online platforms available to students.

“This will bring us into a more modern online platform. Being more student-friendly and user-friendly for the student body,” McClain said.

President McClain also went on to discuss a Canvas initiative that will be implemented in the coming semesters. Students can expect a once-per-semester canvas notification on how Canvas works and how to access resources through the app.

“By the start of next semester, Canvas will not only be utilized as an educational platform but also as a billboard for connections to our resources,” McClain said.

Jared Sherman, who is the Director of Student Spaces, also made his plans clear for the ISUB in the coming year when he met with the Deans of Students.

“There’s going to be a good chance this coming summer the floors in the ISUB will be getting redone,” Sherman said. “I am further getting into contact with the college of architecture, preferably students, to paint murals, accent walls, as well as doing other student artwork going forward.”

Sherman also wants to bring healthier options for students. “One notable thing I am working on is to bring a healthy food mart into the ISUB so that students have healthier food choices on campus.”

Shelby Hobbs, the Director of Academic Affairs, also is trying to implement some new changes for students.

“One project I am starting on is contacting schools that have textbooks included in their tuition, and I am going to start reaching out to some of the schools across the country. I am going to see the logistics of that and how they like it and if that’s something that is accessible at their school,” Hobbs said.

Addisen Pennington, Director of Traditions, discussed the coming football game where she coordinated with Idaho Eats for the tailgate on Saturday. The ASUI tailgate is giving out 100 hot dogs, Coke products and ships to the first 100 students or alumni with tickets to the game.

“It’s kind of like an incentive to get to the game and to support the football team,” Pennington said.

She also went on to discuss the ASUI and Homecoming Blood Drive collaboration which will happen the week of Homecoming with more information soon to come.

Two new bills were introduced.  Bill S23- R01 by President McClain and Vice President Loffer was brought to the table. It introduced Brandon Brackett as the new Director of Student Involvement.

Bill number F22-R02 was also discussed, and it is encouraging Students to attend the Borah Symposium which will be discussing topics of war and peace. This will contain four separate events including:

Monday, Sept 25, 7 p.m. in the International Ballroom, Pitman Center

Tuesday, Sept 26, at 12:30 p.m. in the Vandal Ballroom, Pitman Center.

Tuesday, Sept 26, at 7 p.m. at the Kenworthy Theater.

Wednesday, Sept 27, at 7 p.m. at the International Ballroom, Pitman Center.

The meeting adjourned with ASUI stating that two positions opened in the cabinet starting Wednesday and interested parties can apply using the link under ASUI’s Instagram: @asuidaho.
