The Carrie Eighmey era of Idaho Vandals women’s basketball has finally been announced. The Vandals will open the season on Nov. 6, hosting Walla Walla University. The Vandals welcome a new coaching staff and eight new players, including six transfers and two true freshmen.

The Vandals will try to make a statement in the 2023-2024 season with its brand-new coaching staff. After the Walla Walla opener, the Vandals will host the University of Cal Poly on Nov. 8. They will then travel to the Islands to participate in the Bank of Hawaii Classic.

On Nov. 17, the Vandals will face California State Fullerton. Two days later, the Vandals will play the host team, Hawaii, before heading back home. The Classic will be a great early test for this fairly new Vandal team.

After time on the Islands, the Vandals will have a break for Thanksgiving before they host Utah Valley. Four days later, the Vandals will be traveling to Logan, Utah, to take on the Utah State Aggies.

Another quick turnaround awaits Idaho as it will come back home to host Texas A&M University Commerce. Texas A&M University Commerce got the best of the Vandals 88-72 in Texas, and the Vandals look to flip the script and get the victory at home.

Idaho will then head up the coast and face Pac 12 powerhouse, the University of Oregon. The Ducks got the best of the Vandals 73-70 in their last matchup in 2016.

After the trip to Eugene, the Vandals will have an 11-day break before hosting their final two home non-conference games. On Dec. 17, Idaho will welcome Grand Canyon University.

Idaho will host Saint Martin’s University for the final home non-conference game.

Right after the opening weekend of conference play, the Vandals will face the University of Denver and then Chicago State University to end non-conference play.

Eighmey and the Vandals will look to make their mark and start the Eighmey Era off right. The Vandals will be tested early, and with a new team and new staff, they may have a few setbacks and struggles to begin.

The anticipation, however, for the Vandals women’s basketball team is through the roof. They are poised for an exciting season.
