The first ASUI meeting of the semester revealed that Parking and Transportation Services is planning to release a transportation app for University of Idaho Students.
Wednesday’s introductory meeting in the Clearwater Room of the ISUB had few updates for the beginning of the year. Most notably, Lauren Young, director of Parking and Transportation Services, told the senate that they are in the midst of creating a transportation app for students, or a Rider App.
The Rider App will post bus routes, arrival times, delay updates and more. It will be coming soon, though there is no definitive date for its release.
ASUI President Tanner McClain spoke about his hopes for the upcoming school year.
One of his goals is to make the Student Union Building more of a student space by, “Vandalizing the ISUB,” as he said when talking about the issue. He also talked about a new app being developed, called My UIdaho.
This would be an initiative to make the platforms that the University currently uses and turn them into a more modern, easier system.
The assembly ended with a reminder that senate applications are open for the new school year. If any student wants to get involved with the student government, the applications are posted on the ASUI website and their Instagram under @asuidaho.
Applications are open until Sept. 6.
