Bryan Kohberger appeared in court on Wednesday where he waived his right to a speedy trial.

Kohberger’s trial has been postponed indefinitely for the meantime.

Kohberger’s defense, Kootenai County Public Defender Ann Taylor, said that there was inadequate time for proper council and that an extension on time will allow the defense to interview more experts and witnesses.

All dates from the previous scheduling order have been postponed indefinitely, except for a hearing scheduled for Sep. 1, where the judge will hear a motion from the defense to dismiss the May grand jury indictment.

The Defense argues that the jurors were not given proper instructions and that not enough jurors were called upon for the grand jury. The prosecution has filed an objection to this motion, and it will be discussed on Sep 1.

Taylor also stated that the judge’s decision for the Sep. 1 hearing will have a significant impact on the scheduling and future of the trial.

In the coming days, the defense will also file two motions to be discussed in court: a motion to strike the death penalty if Kohberger if convicted, and a motion regarding cameras in the courtroom.
