After the release of the names of the four King St. homicide victims, President Scott Green released a statement including information on the victims.
The four victims, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves were all members of the Greek community.
Chapin was a freshman member of Sigma Chi. He was majoring in recreation, sport and tourism management in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. He was from Mount Vernon, Washington.
Kernoodle was a junior in Pi Beta Phi, majoring in marketing within the College of Business and Economics. She was from Post Falls, Idaho.
Mogen was a senior, also majoring in Marketing, from Rathdrum, Idaho. She was also a member of Pi Beta Phi.
Goncalves was a senior majoring in general studies from the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. She was a member of Alpha Phi.
Green wrote in the email that he and his wife are heartbroken at the news.
“Words cannot adequately describe the light these students brought to this world or ease the depth of suffering we feel at their passing under these tragic circumstances,” Green wrote. “No one feels that loss more than their families and friends.”
Drop-in counseling is available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today both at the Counseling and Testing Center as well as on the fourth floor of the ISUB. Therapy Dogs will be in the Vandal Lounge from 2-5 p.m. today.
The Office of the Dean of Students is looking to organize a candlelit vigil sometime later this week, with more information coming out in the coming days.
