The University of Idaho saw a 17.8% increase in the freshman class this year, making it the largest freshman class in recorded history with 1,951 students. This increase has been broken down into numerous contributing factors, including a 35% increase in students participating in the Western Undergraduate Exchange, a program which allows students from nearby states to attend the University of Idaho at a discounted rate from the typical out-of-state cost.
Another notable increase was a 65.3% increase in international undergraduate enrollment. UI has also won the Best Value University in the West for the third year running, and has once again ranked in the top 6% of all public universities.
Overall student enrollment is up 1.8% from 2021 at 11,507. Fall 2022’s numbers have set a new record. This follows last year’s 4.7% increase in enrollment overall. Last fall also saw a 16.2% increase in UI’s freshman class, beating the previous largest freshman class of 2016.
