Moscow City Council requested shared ownership of the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport at Tuesday’s meeting. The council also accepted elections results and approved a request for a new fire engine.
Airport shared
Moscow City Council passed a resolution to transfer one-half ownership of the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport to Moscow.
“City of Moscow our taxpayers have participated $2.5 million of local match in the runway realignment project,” City Supervisor Gary Riedner said. “We discussed what participation or proposed participation might be in the airport terminal project. And that participation, if certain conditions are met, maybe up to $2 million.”
In 2014 Pullman and Moscow entered into a new joint operation agreement due to the runway realignment project with the Federal Aviation Administration instructing both cities to negotiate a new agreement. The city council at the time negotiated an agreement that would ask Pullman to deed one-half of the property and fixtures to Moscow.
Election results
The City Council accepted the canvassed election results of the Nov. 2 elections. The state code requires that the city council accept the canvassed votes done by the local county commissioner.
“After the election, election results are tabulated and finalized,” Riedner explained. “(Then) they go to the county commission, the county commission that canvasses those precinct by precinct and accepts them. Then they send the results down to our city clerk.”
Request for new fire engine
The city council approved a grant request for a new fire engine.
The price for the new fire engine will be $669,935 and the grant request would be for 50% of the purchase price at $335,000.
