The Argonaut will continue with weekly updates on COVID-19 case numbers, vaccinations and more on both the district and state levels.

Gritman Medical Center

Information comes from Gritman’s weekly press releases. Updated Oct. 20 at 11:59 p.m. 

Gritman has seen eight new patients this week for COVID-19, with a total of 146 patients admitted since the beginning of the pandemic. 

Latah County has seen 33 COVID-19 deaths total, with 22 occurring since June 1. 

Public Health – Idaho North Central District

Data used is from Public Health District 2. The local district consists of Latah, Clearwater, Idaho, Lewis and Nez Perce counties. Updated Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.

New cases (Oct. 22): 50

Cases this week (Oct. 16-22): 284

Fully vaccinated: 43,628 (45%)

Deaths: 202

Testing on campus

COVID-19 testing kits have now been made available on the University of Idaho’s campus. These free kits are aimed to help the UI community gain easier access to testing. 

Faculty sees strain on students

At Faculty Senate’s Tuesday meeting, the discussion of attendance numbers turned to issues professors were seeing with the pandemic, including a stressed student body.

Moscow City Council candidates talk masks

Candidates reached disagreements over mask policies in the League of Women Voters forum Wednesday. The efficacy of masks was questioned while some emphasized the importance of freedom of choice.
