The Argonaut will continue with weekly updates every Friday on COVID-19 case numbers, vaccinations and more on both the district and state levels.

Gritman Medical Center

Information comes from Gritman’s weekly press releases. Updated Oct. 13 at 11:59 p.m. 

Latah County has seen four additional COVID-19 deaths since last week, according to Gritman. Out of all patients admitted since June 1, who tested positive for COVID-19, 80.3% of cases have been unvaccinated. 

While the hospital’s patient care unit reached capacity last week, the hospital remains at contingent standards of care. 

Public Health – Idaho North Central District

Data used is from Public Health District 2. The local district consists of Latah, Clearwater, Idaho, Lewis and Nez Perce counties. Updated Oct. 15 at 3 p.m.

Active cases: 1,586

New cases (Oct. 15): 30

Cases this week (Oct. 9-15): 243

Fully vaccinated: 43,180 (45%)

Deaths: 197

Statewide

Data is according to Idaho’s COVID-19 page. Cases data updated Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. Vaccine data updated at 1 p.m.

New cases (Oct. 15): 1,520

Cases this week (Oct. 9-15): 8,416

Fully vaccinated: 809,091 (54%)

Deaths: 3,251

Hospitalized patients: 615 (179 in ICU)

Available ICU beds (Oct. 15): 17

Additional updates

ASUI passes resolution for testing to return to campus

ASUI and Greek organizations have made a push to bring a testing facility back to University of Idaho’s campus. The health district has seen a prevalence of cases within the 18-29 year old demographic.

UI’s mask mandate continues

The university followed Homecoming weekend with an update on the policy’s continuation. UI’s stance on masks will be reviewed once again on Nov. 1.
