Idaho women’s volleyball fell to the University of Montana in a three-game match on Thursday night, Montana winning all three.
Although the Vandals lost, the crowd was filled with cheering students and fans showing their Vandal spirit.
Montana dominated the first set, beating Idaho 25-16, while Idaho put up a fight in the next two, staying close to Montana. The second set ended 25-22 and the third 25-23.
Redshirt senior middle blocker Nikki Ball was a standout in the match, with a team-high of 11 kills and seven blocks, leading Idaho.
With the Homecoming football game just around the corner, students came together to support Vandal volleyball and participate in the “Most Vandalized Fan” contest.
The contest consisted of students dressed to the maximum in their best Vandal gear. Students were wearing gold face paint, Viking helmets and even handmade costumes.
A participant in the Most Vandalized Fan contest, Teddy Ertel, said the contest was a great way to be involved and support Idaho volleyball.
“I really enjoyed being a part of the contest and cheering on the team,” Ertel said. “I loved the environment and energy within the Memorial gym tonight.”
The Vandals will be back this Saturday, Oct. 9, taking on Montana State.
