Moscow Mayor Bill Lambert called for residents and local businesses to follow healthcare experts’ COVID-19 guidance in an Advisory Proclamation this Friday.
As of Sept. 24, masks are required inside city facilities.
In the proclamation, Lambert advises all that are eligible to get vaccinated. He reiterated recommendations to mask when unable to follow social distancing and to limit gatherings outside of one’s household.
He also urged businesses to follow guidelines for prevention based on their workplace type.
The press release cites the evaluation of crisis standards of care existing in Public Health Districts 1 and 2 as part of the motivation for the proclamation. While Gritman Medical Center is under strain, they have not had to enter crisis standards, and the city hopes to keep it that way.
According to the press release, Gritman’s established COVID-19 care unit has been at capacity several times.
The Moscow School District’s mask mandate was also given credit for reducing cases of transmission.
“Let’s set aside our political differences and beliefs to unite as a community, to make the choice to do our part to protect ourselves, our community members, to support our community partners and businesses, and to keep our kids in school,” Lambert stated.
