University of Idaho addressed an increase in statewide case numbers and updated students on campus cases in an email sent out by President Scott Green and Provost and Executive Vice President Torrey Lawrence.
According to the email, there have been 11 active positive cases from Aug. 21-27. Six students are currently under isolation in Targhee Hall.
The email cites Gov. Brad Little, stating that there have been 10 times as many COVID-19 cases among the unvaccinated as the vaccinated since May 15.
According to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, Aug. 28 saw 964 new cases.
With case numbers on the rise, the UI mask mandate remains. Any changes to this or other COVID-19 protocols will be announced Sept. 20.
As of Aug. 30, 2,256 students have submitted proof of vaccination for the university incentives.
“Enjoy the holiday weekend but remember your actions can heavily influence our ability to remain in person this semester,” the email stated. “Let’s be smart and make the best decisions we can for the health and success of our Vandal Family.”
