The University of Idaho football game against Northern Arizona University on Saturday has been postponed to April 17 due to COVID-19 protocols within the program, according to Vandal Athletics.
This will be the third game within this shortened season to be postponed because of complications involving COVID-19 protocols.
During the game against University of California Davis last Saturday, the Vandals went without two of their offensive lineman, Logan Floyd and Matthew Faupusa. On top of this, the Vandals were also missing five of their other starters including Rahsaan Crawford, Connor Whitney, Cade Coffey, Jalen Hoover and Jaxon Woodward.
All of the following players started in the Eastern Washington game at the Kibbie Dome on Feb. 27. UI’s football head coach Paul Petrino said after the game that he was not authorized to release if those players were absent because of COVID-19 or for other reasons.
Although this season has been difficult for the Vandal Football team, Idaho is off to a 1-1 start in the shortened season with a victory of Eastern Washington University and a loss to UC Davis.
According to a recent press release, the game has been rescheduled for April 17 at 1 p.m. in the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, Arizona.
This article has been updated with the newly released date of the game and to correct the spelling of Paul Petrino.
