Existing menstrual product dispensers on the University of Idaho campus are being converted into free-to-use dispensers with the help of Building Services Interim Manager Kenneth McCurry and a partnership with Aunt Flow, a company offering automated, eco-friendly dispensers using 100% cotton products.
The update came from Senator Dylanie Frazier at an Associated Students of University of Idaho meeting Wednesday.
ASUI is also working on a project to get students free snacks during midterm week.
The bill, written by Director of Community Relations Connor Dahlquist, Academic Affairs Officer Savannah Stroebel and three others, plans to allocate $1,200 to purchase snacks and other academic resources.
If passed, included snacks will be goldfish, fruit snacks, granola bars, cuties and Gatorade. Preemptive planning indicates they’ll be distributed outside the Vandal Store, according to Senator Ezmy Perez.
“We have some collaboration going on and they have already offered to help us table, especially since they own that space in front,” Perez said. “If not, we’re going to try somewhere in front of the Teaching and Learning Center.”
The Midterm Munchies bill will be voted on at next week’s meeting.
ASUI President Lauren Carlsen addressed students who have not been tested for COVID-19, saying they “are going to be locked out of their BbLearn, VandalWeb and Zoom” if they do not get a test scheduled by Feb. 4 or do not receive an override.
President Carlsen also announced the Black Lives Matter Committee will be meeting soon. The group consists of Carlsen and six other members.
Senator Jansen Van Beek is looking for student organizations to take over Room 307 in the Idaho Student Union Building. If interested, students are encouraged to get in contact with the ISUB Board.
