Last week, many University of Idaho students staying in Moscow made the trek home from campus, where they’re encouraged to stay for the rest of the semester. In the spirit of road trips, Argonaut photographer Cody Roberts took a detour through Grand Teton National Park on his way home, passing vast blue skies and jagged mountain sunsets.
The gravel-covered Idaho State Highway 64 sliced into the mountains. Light dustings of snow grazed trees and clearings on nearby peaks.
A lonely outhouse sat along the Lochsa River, huddled near a shadow-covered gravel lot and vibrant forest.
A fisherman waded in the Snake River just off a Highway 26 bridge. Remnants of snow hid in the shadows near the shore.
A barbed wire fence blocked passage through a pasture to a distant snowy hilltop outside of Swan Valley, Idaho.
The winding road separated the rolling golden hills and wooden fenceposts from the cloud-streaked sky.
The endless blue horizon reflected its color on the snow-topped mountains of Teton Pass.
A herd of elk grazed as sun set on the hillside of a Wyoming Elk refuge.
Steam and fog rose through the sunset above the Snake River and nearby mountains at Oxbow Bend in Wyoming.
The silhouette of the Tetons reflected off Jackson lake as sunset turned to dusk.
