Crumbs: tuna fried rice

Step up fried rice with a cheap alternative protien

Who would have thought that tuna would be good in fried rice? Well, this is a dish you will just have to try for yourself to find out. Adding fish to this simple dish will add umami and savory flavors one could dream about. 

Prep time: 30 minutes

Yield: 4 servings 

Ingredients: 

1 cup uncooked rice

2 cups water 

1 tbs salt

1 tsp pepper 

2 cans tuna

1 tbs soy sauce 

2 tbs vegetable oil 

1 yellow onion

1 carrot 

2 stocks of celery

3 stocks of chives 

1 button mushroom 

2 eggs 

Directions: 

  1. Add rice and water to the stovetop or in a rice cooker and cook for 17 minutes. 
  2. Chop vegetables finely and mix in a bowl with salt.
  3. In a medium saucepan sauté vegetables until tender.
  4. Incorporate rice into the pan and mix until well combined.
  5. Move rice mixture to one side of the pan and scramble eggs.
  6. Mix everything together and add soy sauce for taste. 
  7. Serve hot or store in the fridge for three days.
