Here’s the main updates from the Sept. 9 ASUI Senate meeting.
- Senator Michael Carberry was officially sworn in to his position.
- The Senate passed Bill F20 B01, which will allocate $50.05 to purchase 40 stamps and 500 envelopes, making them available for students to use for absentee voting.
- The Senate discussed Bill F20 B02, which outlines the expectations and disciplinary process for senators. Senate Pro Tempore Aaron Bharucha said it would ensure a “zero tolerance for laziness and unprofessional behavior.” The bill will be voted on during next week’s meeting.
- Bharucha gave a speech about those who wish to be a “clown with COVID-19,” referring to campus partiers who do not uphold social distancing or wear masks.
- “Shame on those people for being so selfish,” he said.
