University of Idaho Dean of Students Blaine Eckles has invited students and parents to participate in a town hall this Thursday to learn more about UI’s fall 2020 plans, according to an email sent to students today.
The town hall is currently scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Aug. 13 over Zoom. Questions can be submitted in advance on the Microsoft form included in the email.
Afterwards, the recorded meeting will be available on UI’s COVID-19 website.
The email also stated COVID-19 testing is available on the Moscow campus with time slots available on a first-come first-served sign-up basis only. The Aug. 13-14 and Aug. 17-21 time slots are reserved for students, but times are also available Aug. 10-12 and Aug. 24-26. A photo ID and the QR code received after sign-up must be brought to the appointment.
In addition to this information, Eckles provided links to several websites, including a new student orientation website, the Healthy Vandal Pledge and UI COVID-19 website, the Vandals Have it Covered video and information from Greek Life, Housing and Residence Life and Vandals Dining. Further information about face covering requirements and the schedule change following Thanksgiving break were also provided.
“Staff and faculty have been working hard over the past few months to create as safe of a learning environment as possible,” Eckles stated. “It is important that you understand that, as a student, you play a significant role in determining whether the university will remain open for the fall semester or not. If you care about the university and want to continue in-class instruction, you must take appropriate safety steps to protect yourself and others.”
