Dirty iced chai lattes are one of my favorite Monday morning drinks. I love making them at home because I have complete control over the sweetness. This recipe is also easily customizable.
I like to make my cold brew the day before, but a ready-made cold brew or espresso works just as well. Using cold brew instead of regular drip coffee makes it taste less acidic, giving you a smooth drink without the bitterness.
The recipe serves two people and is ready in about 15 minutes.
What you’ll need
- 2 cups water
- 1-2 chai tea bags
- 1 cup coconut milk
- ½ cup cold brew coffee or 3 oz. espresso
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
First, add the tea bag(s) and two cups of water to a saucepan and bring to a boil. I used one chai bag and the flavor was great, although you can add a second if you prefer stronger tea. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the tea to steep for at least 10 minutes. Remove the bag(s) and allow the tea to cool slightly more.
Add the tea and the other ingredients to a blender. Blend until completely combined.
Pour into two glasses filled with ice.
Add cinnamon on top to your liking. You can add more syrup for more sweetness.
