Police Logs: reports of threatening, harassment and several fires

Monday, July 13

9:55 a.m. Theft Other: A seafoam green mountain bike was stolen from Sojourner’s Alliance at about 12:37 p.m. the day before. The reporting party has security footage. An officer responded and a report was taken.

2:27 p.m. Structure Fire: Smoke was seen coming from a white house on Hawthorne Drive, although no flames were seen. Fire and EMS responded and no report was taken.

2:51 p.m. Civil Calls: A reporting party advised multiple WinCo patrons were not wearing masks. The reporting party asked some of them to put on face masks and they got upset. All employees were reportedly wearing masks. An officer responded and no report was taken.

6:23 p.m. Theft Other: A caller stated his bike was stolen from W A Street. An officer responded and no report was taken.

6:54 p.m. Vicious Animal Complaint: Two dogs on S Adams Street acted aggressive towards a reporting party about fifteen minutes before the call. The aggression has been an ongoing issue. An officer responded and no report was taken.

Tuesday, July 14

12:46 a.m. Noise Complaint: A subwoofer from movie watching was reported on Brent Drive the past few nights. That night, it had been ongoing since 9 p.m. The residents were unknown but had moved in a month ago. An officer responded and no report was taken.

7:01 a.m. Fire: A fire was reported on Lewis and S Washington Streets. MFD and MPD responded and the fire was extinguished.

10:17 a.m. Suspicious Person/Circumstance: A man attempted to talk to volleyball players after practice the night before in the Logos School parking lot. He said he wanted to speak with them about God. An officer advised and no report was taken.

3:08 p.m. Harassment: Sunday night, a few men were banging on the reporting party’s door on N Jackson Street. An officer advised and no report was taken.

Wednesday, July 15

9:46 a.m. Suspicious Person/Circumstance: A man sitting in a grass area on Nez Perce Drive followed the reporting party and ran at their dog.

11:49 a.m. Gun Check: An officer responded to a gun check for University of Idaho Security. No report was taken.

2:49 p.m. Disorderly Conduct: A customer at Mikey’s Gyros refused to wear a mask. Officers responded and no report was taken.

5:29 p.m. Gun Check: An officer responded to a gun check for UI Security. No report was taken.

Thursday, July 16

11:17 a.m. Citizen Assist: A person on the UI campus kept showing up and bothering students and faculty by going into their offices. An officer requested the case and no report was taken.

12:20 p.m. Gas Spill or Odor: There was a smell of natural gas inside a building on N Washington Street. The building was evacuating. Fire and law responded but there was no emergency. No report was taken.

12:51 p.m. Civil Calls: At least 20 people coming out of a building on S Main Street around 11:45 a.m. were not wearing masks. They were milling around close together, the reporting party said. An officer advised and no report was taken.

2:48 p.m. Harassment: A man approached the reporting party on S Main Street and was being condescending and rude. This has been an ongoing problem. An officer advised and no report was taken.

3:14 p.m. Threatening: A reporting party got home and found a threatening letter on his doorstep on W Palouse River Drive. He didn’t know who put it there. Officers responded and no report was taken.

3:34 p.m. Animal Problem/Complaint: A dog that lives on E E Street reportedly has mange, flees and scabs all over its body. The reporting party wanted to talk to the animal control officer. An officer advised and no report was taken.

7:03 p.m. Suspicious Person/Circumstance: A reporting party stated a “creepy white van” was parked behind their house through the alley. They had never seen the van before, but the reporting party said it looked sketchy. No report was taken.

10:20 p.m. Fireworks Complaint: A reporting party heard what sounded like four rifle shots from the Almon Street side of their house on Brent Drive. There was a small pause between each sound and they sounded approximately half a mile away. Officers responded to fireworks and the subjects were warned.
