This red white and blue drink is sure to be a hit at your Fourth of July gathering. It’s quick, easy and requires little preparation.
The quantity of each ingredient depends on how large of a crowd you’re expecting, but you will need equal amounts of each. You can also swap out some of the drink choices if you prefer a different taste. Some possible substitutions include Faygo, 7up and Powerade.
The most important thing to remember when making this is to make sure the drink layers are correct. Zero sugar blue Gatorade is a key ingredient because it helps create the layers. If you use regular Gatorade, it will mix with the other drinks. The liquid with the most sugar goes on the bottom, the next suspends in the middle and the one with no sugar is placed on the top. Note how much sugar is in each drink you are purchasing.
What you’ll need:
- One part Red Mountain Dew
- One part Sprite
- One part Zero sugar blue Gatorade
Directions:
Begin by filling a glass to the top with ice. This helps keep your layers exact.
If you’re planning on using a straw, add that in now so it won’t disturb the layers.
Next, tilt the glass slightly while adding Red Mountain Dew until the glass is one third full. Tilting the glass helps avoid staining the ice cubes red.
Rotate the glass slightly so the next layer doesn’t pick up any red coloring and fill the next third of the glass with Sprite as slowly as you can. If you have trouble pouring slowly, you can pour over the back of a spoon.
For the final layer, slowly pour zero sugar blue Gatorade into the glass.
Serve and enjoy!
