This week’s look back is fairly short because there aren’t summer issues every year in The Argonaut’s past. Whenever there are summer issues, there aren’t weekly issues all of the time.
Looking back to see what was going on in past years is a great way to gain insight into what the world used to be like. The University of Idaho Library has a website that includes PDFs of printed issues of The Argonaut. Anyone can look through these at any time.

May 28, 1907
Currently, UI has 10 colleges offering more than 300 degrees for undergraduate and graduate students. Those colleges are Agricultural and Life Sciences; Art and Architecture; Business and Economics; Education, Health and Human Sciences; Engineering; Graduate Studies; Law; Letters, Arts and Social Sciences; Natural Resources; and Science. According to this advertisement, in 1907 there were four colleges: the college of Letters and Sciences; Agriculture; Applied Science; and the State Preparatory Department.
May 26, 1909
UI’s library has an immense number of books. In 1909, $200 worth of books were added to the Department of Romance Languages. Many of the books were French. A professor at the time talked about the future of this collection in this article.
