Washington State University football senior defensive back Bryce Beekman was found dead March 24 in his apartment. Whitman County Coroner Annie Pillers determined the 22-year-old died of acute intoxication due to a combination of fentanyl and promethazine.
In the report, Pillers ruled Beekman’s death as an accidental overdose.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native transferred to Washington State last season after playing for Arizona Western. In the 2019 season, Beekman played in all 13 games, recorded 60 tackles and finished fifth on the team. He also recorded one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception.
