While the gyms are closed it can be hard to stay in shape. Without the gym what are you going to do to stay active, buy a bunch of equipment? You could, but most of us can’t afford that or don’t have the space to keep all of that equipment.

The solution: workout channels on YouTube. There are so many out there it’s ridiculous. So, that’s where I come in. I’m here to suggest 10 channels that will keep you active and maybe even get the body you’ve been working toward for a long time.

POPSUGAR Fitness

POPSUGAR fitness not only has a YouTube channel but also a website that focuses on various lifestyle topics such as fashion, fitness, beauty, living, culture and more. The channel has over four million subscribers and over 1,000 videos.

The best part is there are a variety of workouts, and the type of workouts are categorized into playlists. So, if you’re looking for a particular workout you can easily find it and jump around to similar workouts. Workouts range from dance workouts, full body workouts, core workouts and more.

A great part is that they talk you through the videos. There are typically three people in the video. One person talks you through the workout while the other two are doing advanced and beginner versions of the workout. That way, you can workout with a friend or family member at your own pace.

MadFit

This channel is run by one person, Maddie Lymburner. She has over two million subscribers and over 200 videos. Lymburner has videos of herself doing workouts at home that typically don’t require any equipment beside small dumbbells. What’s great about her channel is that she has a playlist of workouts to do that are apartment friendly.

This is especially helpful if you’re living above the first floor of an apartment complex and you want to make sure you’re not jumping around and being disruptive. Her playlist for apartment friendly workouts is great for staying in shape while still being accommodating of others.

FitnessBlender

Fitness Blender has over 800 videos with six million subscribers. This channel is run by a husband and wife who sometimes talk through the workouts together or just do them by themselves. They have a variety of workouts from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. A great thing about this channel is that before the workouts they lay out what the workout targets, what the workout is going to entail and what equipment is need (if any).

BodyFit by Amy

This channel is run by one person and has a wide variety of workouts. One thing I don’t like is that she’s not very enthusiastic during the workouts. She’s very monotoned, which can be fine for some people. The workouts are pretty good, and she lays out ways to make workouts more or less advanced. This is a great channel, especially for beginners, because it focuses on the fundamentals of the exercises used in the videos.

Body Project

There are only 35 videos on this channel, but they are still pretty good workouts. Similar to POPSUGAR Fitness, there are three people in the videos that guide you through the workouts. A great thing about the channel is that it lays out whether or not the workouts are for beginners, what they workout, if they are high or low impact and more.

Psyche Truth

There are over 2,000 videos on this channel, so there are plenty of workouts to try. This channel not only focuses on videos that help you lose weight or gain muscle, they also focus on stretching muscles and healthy eating. Those who guide the workouts have calming voices and aren’t screaming at you. Having people who are intimidating lead the workout can be off putting for a lot of people. These knowledgeable people are there not only to help but to be a calming presence.

Strength Side

Similar to PsycheTruth, this channel focuses on workouts to do at home and has informational videos on how to get the most out of a workout regime. A lot of people struggle with is being consistent in their workouts. This channel has various videos to help those who struggle with being consistent. So, if you want to try and get the most out of a workout, I’d suggest watching some of Strength Side’s videos.

Blogilates

Blogilates is one of the more unique channels on this list. Most of the videos are 10-15 minutes long, which can be great for people who don’t have a lot of time to work out. From targeted workouts to full body workouts, this channel is a great way to try out Pilates at home. If you have never tried Pilates before, you’ll have sore muscles you never thought you had.

GymRa

This channel has a variety of videos from a variety of different people. So, if you don’t like one person or one workout, there are plenty of others to watch. One thing that isn’t great about this channel is not all videos give a warm up in the beginning. The people on this channel assume the person watching the videos will do a warm up on their own. However, especially if the person is a beginner, many may not realize the importance of a warm up. Be mindful of that with any workout video.

Heidi Somers

This channel has a wide variety of videos from workouts to meal prep and anything in between. In one of her videos she explains her fitness journey, where she explains her struggle maintaining her weight. Being open about that struggle allows people to connect with her and not feel intimidated. Not being intimidated is a very important part of fitness. If you don’t feel comfortable or motivated, then you won’t be consistent in your workouts.
