A weekly series of DIY drinks to try

Emily Pearce | Argonaut

Every Monday, we will be sharing different drinks to try.  This week: matcha latte

Matcha Latte

A drink that can be made in a variety of ways. Hot, cold, iced, frozen, you name it. Matcha is so versatile and delicious. It’s a drink that needs to be savored.

Fun fact about matcha: a cup has the same amount of caffeine as a cup and a half of coffee.

What you’ll need:

  • Matcha powder
  • Sugar
  • Milk (of your choice)
  • Mug
  • Whisk
  • Teaspoon and tablespoon
  • Optional: Milk frothier

Start by measuring out one and a half teaspoons of powdered matcha into a desired mug. Next measure out two teaspoons of sugar into the mug. Measure out one tablespoon of water and add into the mug. Whisk the matcha, sugar and water until it becomes a green paste.

Warm up one cup of milk in a saucepan and bring to a mild boil. Or warm up the microwave for one minute and thirty seconds. An optional step is to froth the milk after it has warmed up.

Combine the milk and matcha paste.

Enjoy your homemade matcha latte!
