Every week we will be showcasing articles from various years from 1898 to as current as last year.
Taking a look back to see what was going on in past years is a great way to gain insight into what the world was like from that year. The University of Idaho library has a website that includes PDFs of printed issues of The Argonaut that anyone can look through whenever they want.

April 1, 1899
This is the first April issue. From 1898, the only issues are from November 1 and December 1.
Athletics are a big part of college life. This article gives some insight on what was going on in the sports world in 1899.
April 10, 1923
Spring break 1923, some students stayed in Moscow while some went home and slept a lot. This article detailed how students spent spring break. This lighthearted article shows some easy-going aspects of student life and spring break.
April 9, 1940
In 1940 the Delta Gamma sorority house was “ransacked.” At the time of the article, not very much information was known about the person who went through the house. However, nothing of value was stolen.
April 1, 1964
Many years have offered some “joke” papers that happened on April Fools Day. This article from 1964 explains what the staff was thinking when they made the paper, even if it is in a joking way.
April 6, 1999
This editorial written by Kami Miller details one of the purposes of writing. The column details how she feels about her being a writer, and offers some insight about what it was like to be a columnist at that time.
April 2, 2010
This article explains there will be a native emphasis program within the University of Idaho College of Law. In the first year, it was expected there would be two Native Law emphasis graduates with more to come in the following years. The short article puts in perspective how programs like these have grown in just 10 years.
