Kootenai County has confirmed community spread of COVID-19, according to a Panhandle District Health press release. Case No. 13 – Case No. 20, Case No. 22 – Case No. 24 and Case No. 26 appear to be from community spread.
Contact tracing is ongoing. Contact tracing involves monitoring those in close contact with someone who is infected with the virus, because they are at a higher risk of getting the virus themselves, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s website. The goal is to prevent further transmission of the virus.
“Some of the confirmed cases are not connected to travel or contact with a confirmed case. We continue to urge the public to adhere to the stay-home order made by Gov. Little,” according to the release. “We know practicing social distancing strategies can slow the spread of the virus, but we need everyone to do their part.”
